Database user account management
Torus Business Group LLC will manage all user accounts assigned to you. The Torus Business Group LLC DBAs will manage addition, modification and removal of user accounts and associating profiles and/or storage parameters. To better manage the environment, Torus Business Group LLC would create specialized roles/profiles. These are then assigned to the user accounts based on their requirements and contractual agreements. User defined roles and profiles can also be setup.

Database objects creation
Torus Business Group LLC DBAs can manage creation of tables and indexes if you so choose. This activity is restricted to creating these objects based on existing storage conditions and profiles and does not include design modifications and/or modifications to the data structures. Torus Business Group LLC DBAs can also manage the creation of objects like stored procedures, triggers, packages etc.

Torus Business Group LLC will not troubleshoot and/or make modifications to the logic of the code. Torus Business Group LLC responsibility is strictly focused around the creation of the object in the database (running an object creation script etc) and not to the writing of the code/script for object creation.

Database storage management
It is imperative to manage the growth of the database objects. Poorly designed objects in the database can cause fragmentation and/or chaining in the database, which can adversely affect the performance of the system.

Database patch management
Database vendors occasionally release patches to fix specific bugs. These patches are installed and a patch log maintained by Torus Business Group LLC.

Database backup administration
Database backup is setup to run on a schedule, usually daily. Torus Business Group LLC will configure your database to be setup in such a schedule and configure all the required parameters for the backup software. Wherever necessary, the database is setup in the hot backup mode so as to reduce downtime of the instance.

For MS SQL Server databases, Torus Business Group LLC can take the transaction log backups, which are more like incremental backups during the weekdays. Torus Business Group LLC will make all the necessary configurations and setups required for this option. Transactional log backup can be used only if the database does not have bulk insert procedures or if the schema does not change

This option assumes that a Backup service has been initiated on the server running the database.

Database SQL*Net/JDBC administration
Torus Business Group LLC will help troubleshoot connectivity issues that arise during the course of day-to-day operations. Issues relating to connectivity for a new server/environment are not part of this offering. Issues in connectivity relating to changes made on the non-Torus Business Group LLC end of the network connection are also not part of this offering. Such services can be provided through a fee-based service.

Database monitoring
Torus Business Group LLC will setup and administer basic database monitoring that will include monitoring the instance, space management, storage management, listeners etc.

Database Consistency Check (DBCC)
In SQL server only, DBCC checks are run monthly to ascertain any problems with the database integrity. A report of such a check is produced and recorded for future reference.

Database performance/tuning recommendations (On request)
Torus Business Group LLC can make recommendations for improving the database performance. Specific tuning recommendations like rewriting the queries and tweaking system parameters are provided.

Database Recovery/Restore from Backup/logs (On request)
Torus Business Group LLC can recover your environment from the backup tapes as and when requested. Where possible, Torus Business Group LLC can recover your environment from the archive logs instead of the backup tapes as and when requested. This is ideal when you need to recover to a point in time and/or pressed for time to recover from tape.

Database Refresh (On request)
Very often, you may need to have a development database environment as a copy of the production site. The Torus Business Group LLC DBAs can do this for you as per your requirements.

Database Design Assistance (On request)
Torus Business Group LLC DBAs have a vast experience in database design concepts. You can tap into this experience for recommendations and assistance in your database design initiatives. Torus Business Group LLC will assist you in your design needs, but for an additional fee, can undertake to implement the entire database design for you based on your needs and parameters.
